We Are The Witches II We Are, Hear - Group Exhibition
In August 2025, I was fortunate to exhibit for the first time as part of We Are The Witches II We Are, Hear a group exhibition held at The House of Smalls in Edinburgh, running throughout the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
About the Exhibition
Opening exactly a year to the day since The House of Smalls' first Edinburgh show, this exhibition showcases the textile artwork of 70 wise women artists using their craft to challenge, disturb and disrupt.
"The witch is at once female divinity, female ferocity, and female transgression. She is all and she is one." - Kristen J Sollee
My Work: “Highly Flammable”
Subverting the role of fire in the witch’s story and reflecting the duality in our association with witches, Highly Flammable sees the witch as both vulnerable and powerful.
In summer 2025, the piece was in part, a reflection of how I was feeling - recognising the new direction I wanted to take with my career in returning to my textile roots which was both empowering but also carried a lot of fear of failure.
I love that banners were traditionally used to unite a community or group, and being able to do this to celebrate a feeling, especially of vulnerability.
Like my bespoke banners, this piece was handcrafted from cotton velvet, with letters hand cut and securely stitched to the banner.
